Ep. #224- Cryptocurrency For Dummies: Cryptocurrency, Blockchain and Bitcoin

*CORRECTIONS* (Thanks to all who offered advice!)
Bitcoin has 10-minute block times, and not 15.

If you bought 1000 Bitcoin at $1.00 USD, then you would have had 1.2 MILLION USD at the peak of the bubble.

Lots of info in a short video. Thank you so very much Crypto

Fuck cryptocurrency, fuck bitcoin, fuck blockchain. You are ruining the pc gaming community.

Grayson Kitteh

I don't get why would anyone use 3rd party or an outsider to verify transactions? It is like giving away people private data to 3rd parties. Why don't the owner of the transaction uses their own system /computer to verify it?

Gibbet Hoskins

This is not crypto for dummies, this is an overly complicated description

Brett Beyer
Dude this makes zero sense to me. It's like because some one can solve an algorithm faster they get the bitcoin? Why would anyone outside this gaming community want to exchange a good or service for it? It's like if someone gave me a magic playing card after mowing their lawn when I don't play the game and see no value in it because im not apart of that community. The only explanation is that this community is soo huge that there are enough people within it that are willing to exchange something tangeable for it. Which is still crazy… Read more »

Thank you for your effort in explaining cryptocurrency.I am a little more knowledgeable now than I was.I think I will just stick to gold much less confusing.. and its real and I can hold it.

@CryptO, I am wondering if all the power (electricity ) to mine, solve the problem and make the block, is deducted before the value of a bitcoin is arrived at? If not, then there is still the same need for Fiat.

Antionette Alexiss

Hi. thanks for explaining… If I invested $500 in Bitcoin how much would it add up to each year?

Rits Daas

Interesting Video ….I gone through Whitepaper of Nucleus Vision. They are implementing IOT and Blockchain in Retail Industry. Check :- https://nucleus.vision

vincent nguyen

you made it very simple to understand. Thanks a lot!

Keith Williams

Should be called "cryptocurrency by dummy"

Hum Zah

I thought i'd see charts, images and diagrams to explain and simplify for us dummies. not some dude driving a car…lame

Cryptocurrency kinda proves how useless money is. I'm still not understanding how a computer solving a math problem first makes an individual, or group of individuals, worth more. I can fling poo further than you. Does that make me more valuable? Forgive my snarkiness but this process is not entirely sinking in. :-/

Angela Graves

I am in southern africa and I went to my first meeting on Bitcoin about 6 weeks ago. I am in and mining with a pool. Thanks for this clip.

David Ruiz

Went to check out the Jaxx Wallet and just this past week there has been "vulnerability" where people reported over $400k funds stolen lol….

Emani Judah

this is the best explanation I've heard yet…and you did it while driving…haha. good job

Luis Vel

Thanks man, you are really great at explaining the different dimensions around the cryptocurrencies and the technology behind it (blockchain). Looking forward to more from your channel. May I ask, do you have a very IT/technological/financial/mathematical background? Do you think any of the latter is needed to be good at understanding and trading cryptocurrencies or is a do & learn it yourself approach enough to become good at trading these new currencies?

BeginLinux Guru

I like your videos. But, I sure hope that you have a self-driving car. It really makes me nervous when you take both hands off the steering wheel while the car is moving.

Chris Rutt

Good for you man! Great explanation. Happiness to you and El !

thanks crypto like Vida this is helping a boob like me

go eth !!!!

Why 21 million coins, and not 20 or 25 million?

knight bit

10 min block

knight bit

block reward is 10 min not 15

Desmond Johnson Johnson

Great video I enjoy listening. But your math is off a bit. If you bought 1000.00 worth of Bitcoin priced at 1 dollar per coin and sold when bitcoin was at 1200 you'd have 1.2 million dollars.

Relient Kid

This is the best explanation of bitcoin and such I've heard/seen. Very impressive, no need for visuals or fancy programs. Well spoken for the newbies like myself. Thank you crypt0

Pisces Traits- Rule 373

You have good communications skills indeed !!!! Crypto nailed it again !!!!!

Hey @crypt0 what's your 2017 predictions for Bitcoin & ETH? Highs & Average?

Pablo Ramalho

Thanks again Crypt0! Nice video!

Photono van Lichten

Jaxx makes a good impression by its GUI but it´s awefully slow on my mobile. On my super old iPhone it´s not even working at all. It starts and does nothing. Maybe i am using the wrong mobile :-// Good video Crypt0! 🙂

Buy Bitcoin/Ethereum at CB and push it to your cold storage! Never keep it at any centralized service. It would´t even be them to be blamed 🙂 ColdStorage should be the first lesson for every Crypto Holder.

Mikael T. Akkisnam

Very good summary/introduction to beginners.

you keston

good video

Peter Murphy

Sorry Omar, it's every 10 minutes not 15 Min. 😊 10 minute blocks. http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/855/what-keeps-the-average-block-time-at-10-minutes
